The Course
This 10-month course offers a practical, clinical introduction to herbalism for beginners who want a grounded and skills-based approach. The curriculum focuses on understanding medicinal herbs through their therapeutic actions, chemical constituents, and real-world applications.
This is a self-paced course designed to support independent study, with structured guidance and monthly check-in calls for discussion, accountability, and connection with classmates. Course materials are included to help you stay organized and deepen your learning.
You'll explore materia medica, learn how to create remedies like tinctures, teas, and salves, and start developing the foundational skills needed for clinical herbal work or further study. This course is ideal for anyone looking to build confidence and competence in using herbs for practical care and wellness.
Details & Requirements
Program Length: 10 months (1 community call per month)
Applications are open: Spring session dates are between March-December of 2026. We will announce acceptance by November of 2025! XOXOXO
Homework: Students will be given monthly assignments. Assignments involve research of up to 12 herbs each month. There will also be homework in Ethnobotany, Botany (specifically plant structure), Anatomy and Physiology. Another area of focus for class and homework will be completing student case studies.
Tuition & Payment: The total tuition cost for the virtual course is $750. This includes course materials and access to monthly community calls to review materia medica, ask questions, and discuss your herbal studies with classmates.

Her journey began with a deep fascination for the therapeutic power of plants, which evolved into a professional pursuit spanning diverse healing traditions and scientific disciplines. Her training encompasses Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic practices, the wisdom of traditional Black midwives, and the study of tropical flora. As a Clinical Herbalist and Full Spectrum Birth Worker, Lyani bridges ancient traditions with modern clinical applications, creating a holistic approach to wellness that meets contemporary health needs.
Her passion for herbalism is deeply intertwined with her role as an educator. Lyani takes immense pride in guiding students through a comprehensive curriculum that integrates the science of herbal medicine with the art and tradition of herbal craft.
